Better Together

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?  Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

I was reminded recently of the strength when we do things together! When we do life together we share the dailies of our life in whatever it may be. When one falls down the others help. By ourselves we are not protected but with each other we have each other’s back. I am so thankful for my circle because with a friend you can face the worst (and the good) as you know they are praying, encouraging, and standing with you. I get by with a little help from my friends…(sounds like a song)   The Christian life is not meant to be lived alone but TOGETHER! The body of Christ needs all of the parts to work well together for His glory and honor.

Remaining in Jesus

“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you.  Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.” John 15:1-4 (NLT)

We are to bear fruit which glorifies God. In the passage, Jesus reminds us that we must remain in Him because if we don’t our lives will not be fruitful.  And God will not be glorified.

What does “remaining” in Jesus look like in your life?

For me in the Faith FiT Life it means: starting each day listening to the Word. (Audio Bible) Then I spend some time reflecting what I’ve read and in prayer. During the day, I maintain a conversation with Jesus and I ask Him to guide me in my decisions that come my way. Listening to Christian worship music helps me. (Who knows my favorite worship song, currently?)  This music fills my mind with truth and encourages me. That’s it in a nutshell. What’s it for you?

The grapevine in the Scripture reading serves for a word picture on tending a garden. Gardening requires time, attention and care, otherwise weeds grow and it doesn’t look very good. In our walk with Jesus we need to do the same on a daily basis.  Gardening is a reminder of the importance of staying close to Jesus. I don’t garden much, but have been doing a tiny bit, as I want to grow some plants for my juicing and it serves as visual for me to take the time, attention and care for what the Lord has for me in His Word.

Hope

Hope by definition: “To cherish a desire with anticipation: to want something to happen or be true” (Webster Dictionary)

The word “hope” is usually distinguished from certainty. We would say, “I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I hope it happens.”

The word “hope” in the Bible, for example in 1 Peter 1:13—”set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ”.

Hope is not wishful thinking. It’s not “I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but I hope it happens.” Hope is when God has promised that something is going to happen and you put your trust in that promise. Hope is an assurance that something will come to happen because God has promised it will  happen.

“He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?” Romans 8:32

The last part of that verse IS hope! It is a hope grounded in the rock-solid statement that “God didn’t spare his own son.”

The principle of what we look to in the Scriptures to build our hope is what has Christ done for me in my sinful condition that enables me to know that I will not come in to judgment and condemnation and that all things are working together for my good? And the answer is that Christ died for me, rose again for me, and therefore all the promises of God are yes in Him.

Let’s not dwell on the things that hold us back in our faith, food, investments, training, look away from that, but look to Jesus, look to His promises, and hold fast to them. Hope comes from the promises of God rooted in the work of Christ. The Bible is filled with hope, a hope beyond what most have dared to dream. Our hope is in Jesus! Claim that today!

The movie Facing the Giants comes to mind as I fight the “giants” in my life. There are “giants” we face daily that grab and hold on to us with our food, faith, investments and training. That discourage us with our Faith FiT Life, that we can’t or we can’t get out of this vicious cycle, why even try. We tend to forget what the Lord tells us in His Word we are more than conquerors! (Romans 8:37). “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

David defeated Goliath because David knew the Lord God Almighty was much more powerful then Goliath. David knew that the Lord would go before him. (I Samuel 17) This thought brings to mind the song “Whom Shall I Fear” by Chris Tomlin

When God is for us who can be against us? (Romans 8:31) We must keep our eyes on Jesus as the only one that can fight the “giants” we face in our life. Peter walked on the water as long as he had his eyes on Jesus, once he took them off of Jesus he began to sink.  The lesson for us to learn is that our eyes need to be fixed on Jesus. (Hebrews 12:2)

Death was arrested when Jesus arose with our ransom in hand and for that reason we can face the “giants”,  fight them  AND defeat them!  AMEN! AND AMEN! That gets me excited!

Goliath, YOU are GOING DOWN!!

Happy 4th of July, Independence Day!

In Genesis 2:16 the Lord tells us, you are to free eat from any tree in the garden. The passage continues to verses 17 and 18 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.

The Lord set boundaries in the Garden, you can eat from every tree but not one. I think we also need to set boundaries for ourselves, yes, we can eat yet not all foods do the best for us or for our health. In our journey of eating we ARE free to choose what we can and will not eat. The choices have good and bad consequences, it’s our choice.

As I have shared before the Bible says “Choose you this day life or death” (Deut. 30:15) eating right and juicing is choosing LIFE!  I pray the Lord will bless you richly and abundantly today!
